Hello everyone, my name is Gregson Ostrander, and I am happy to be contributing my hack attempts at writing to the ever prestigious Gotham Black website. All joking aside, I am happy to be putting up my writings here, and as sporadic as they may be, I hope that you like them!

I have to say, first and foremost, that I am not a professional writer. Though I’ve written since I was in my early teens, it has remained a hobby in my life to this day, and this is my first real attempt diving into the world of digital writing and blogging. I’ve always been a pencil, notebook, and scotch kind of guy, honestly. Hopefully the absence of scotch will not hurt the work in any way, as I’m terrified of spilling anything on my shiny new computer during a sincere attempt to cure writer’s block with single malt. If my posts suddenly stop though, you know what happened.

So, the format, the one thing I was assigned to talk about. I’m mainly here to share my writings, so I expect that my contributions will be serialized in episodes and chapters, depending on the work. Thus, as I write short stories, I will release them a chapter at a time until they are complete. Like I said before, I’m not a pro at this though, so hopefully I’ll be able to keep continuity intact while still being able to dole out the story in bits and pieces. If there are problems, I will either try to make note of them, or hope that enough time has past since the last installment for you to forget details and/or notice that I messed up.

I can’t really say that I write in any particular format or genre, but for the sake of classification, most of my work should be considered fiction. I’ve written the occasional poem, but I’ve stayed focused on writing mainly shorts all these years. I hope that by putting things up here, I’ll be more courageous in attempting to write all kinds of stories, and Jon has been giving me ideas to attempt styles that would fit television episodes or comic book story arcs, so who knows what could happen?

For my personal life, I spend most days and some odd nights as a doctor at the New York Methodist Hospital, and my favorite moments and evenings with my lovely girlfriend Emma and our dog Hutch. Our favorite things are Friday evening beers with friends at The Gate and Gorilla Coffee on lazy Sunday mornings. Lastly, while he is a harsh critic of my work, literally chewing and tearing apart the pages, Hutch wanted me to tell you that he is particularly excited to have you all here for the ride.
