FRINGE Title Text

Do you remember the old X–Files? I mean, when it was really good? FOX’s latest Sci–Fi show Fringe reminds me a lot of that show I used to watch way back when, where creepy unknowns had infiltrated the earth and went bump in the night.

Fringe was created by the ever prolific J. J. Abrams, and takes its name from the more unconventional, if not blatantly fantastical field of fringe science. This loosely borders on pseudoscience, with the shows treatment of undiscovered brain activity and signal interpretation, the conscious, subconscious, and dream states, and genetic anomaly and experimentation.

While the basic format of crime–mystery is used, I can’t help but declare Fringe as being just fun and exciting to watch. The characters are quirky and flawed, the villains in the shadows are ominous enough, creatures are creepy, and enough shots with “Did I just see…” and, “Was that just…” to keep you fully immersed and entertained. If you remember the old X–Files and enjoyed it, I would highly recommend checking out Fringe.
